The goal of this zine is the creation of something viscerally handmade — a throwback to earlier zines made entirely at home or in libraries as opposed to printed by expensive manufacturers. It will be 20 pages (5 sheets, front & back, folded) and printed at a local library, then folded and stapled entirely by hand. All interior pages will be black & white, with the outer cover sheet being in color.To push back against censorship and purity culture, this zine will be open to mature themes and concepts, such as sex, sexual fetishes, and nudity, though the final zine may not contain all of those. It will also allow and embrace LGBTQ+ representation and headcanons.FUCK AI.

What are the general zine guidelines?
Characters are assigned to contributors by mods to prevent overlap or over-representation of the same character
Characters not assigned can still be included in works as long as they aren't the focus
Ex.: An illustration or fic for the contributor assigned Dizzy can still include Ky or Sol, etc, as long as the focus is largely on Dizzy and not them
Absolutely no AI, generative or otherwise, will be allowed.
APPLICATIONS ARE RESTRICTED TO PEOPLE 20 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER ONLY
As stated above, this is a mature zine. We are also aiming for something of a "retro" feel with it and are limiting it to characters from before Guilty Gear Xrd (Guilty Gear (1998) to Guilty Gear Vastedge XT (2013)). Guilty Gear Xtra is not allowed.

Will contributors be paid?
A poll held later in the project's Discord server will determine whether contributors are paid or if zine profits go to a charity
Our charity of choice is the Kaleidoscope Trust (website), a UK-based organization that fights for LGBT rights and equality internationally.
Contributors will receive a digital copy of the zine and can get a physical copy of the zine for free + cost of shipping
Contributors may pitch in to a "pool" to help cover cost of shipping for other contributors who may not be able to afford it themselves (i.e., shipping outside the USA).
A list of expenses, sales, and profits will be available in the Discord server.
The digital version of this zine will be made available for free a year after the the zine releases.
What are the illustrator guidelines?
Total art count for the zine:
Cover, logo/subtitle, decorative frame pieces, formatting, all the printing/production shit done by Radguy
10 b&w interior pieces
1 colored illustration (back inside cover)
Table of contents piece (front inside cover) by Joel
Each artist does a colored icon for their assigned character to go on the back cover (optional)
Actual guidelines:
Black and white
1650x2550px, 300dpi
Piece must be new work created for this zine
Experimental techniques are encouraged
Collaging, xerography, experimenting with texture, mark-making, etc
Assets (photos or other graphic files) used for collages MUST be licensed for commercial use
Official Guilty Gear artwork/assets cannot be used (we do not have a license for them)
Illustrators will do one greyscale OR black and white (no midrange (grey) tones) internal piece
They may also do one colored portrait of their assigned character for the back of the zine if they want/have time
If an illustrator does not have time or does not want to do a colored portrait for the back, a crop of their main interior piece will be used
AUs are allowed
What are the author guidelines?
Total written work count for the zine:
2 written pieces (6 pages)
One written piece by Elk
At least one spot illustration for these (artists can volunteer or Radguy/Joel can/will do it)
Actual guidelines:
Within 1,500 to 2,000 words
Piece must be new work created for this zine
Font choice and font size will be chosen by the editors
Write it in whatever is comfortable for you though; we'll change it later for the zine
Authors may use a font of choice or a word art generator for the title of their piece
This is optional. If you don't wanna we don't mind doing something for you
Please keep it legible. If the title is not in English/Latin letters (the alphabet), please provide an English translation in Latin letters for us to include as a subtitle so everyone can read it.
Fonts must be copyrighted for commercial use
Some word art generators are: textstudio or glowtxt
Can be essays or fanfiction
Unusual/uncommon pairings are encouraged
AUs are allowed
Essays or nonfiction pieces must have citations
What are the rules for mature content?
Mature content is allowed, but not required.
Characters depicted in works must be 18+ or otherwise considered adults for their species (Gears, homunculi, Chimaki (Mononofu)
Banned characters: May, Bridget, April (they are minors/implied to be minors during the period we've chosen to limit this zine to)
Sin Kiske is allowed in the zine but he cannot feature in a mature piece. In Overture he is older than Dizzy was when she started dating Ky during GGX, but mature content of Sin makes some people uncomfortable. So, while he technically fits under the "mature for his species" rule, we're making a special additional rule to prevent discomfort among readers and contributors.
Ships are allowed save a few exceptions
Banned ships: Sol/Ky/Dizzy/Sin incest pairings, Sol/That Man (Asuka), Zato/Millia
The focus of a piece cannot be graphic sex or genitalia
Characters can have sex or exposed genitals, it just can't be front and center of the piece
Nudity is allowed (this includes breasts, butts, balls, etc). No extremely visible erect penises (kinda keep them silhouetted/in the background; the library will get mad at Radguy otherwise LOL)
Consensual BDSM is allowed
Gore, blood, and violence are allowed as long as it isn't excessive
